Kim Hyun Joong at a recent fan meeting in Japan to commemorate the airing of 'Playful Kiss' in the country
MANILA, Philippines – The membership to Henecia, the newly established official fan club of popular actor and singer Kim Hyun Joong, leader of boy band SS501, has been reopened after his website got hacked over the weekend.
Membership to the fan club is open to Koreans and fans in 120 countries including the Philippines, according to KeyEast Entertainment, Kim’s agency.
Kim Hyun Joong, whose popularity soared after starring in the hit drama series “Boys Over Flowers” in 2009, will release his debut solo album in June following his transfer to KeyEast Entertainment last year.
Last month, KeyEast asked Kim’s fans to participate in coming up with the official name of the fan club. About 500 names were received and the top three names were selected by fans.
Kim personally chose Henecia formed through the combination of the letter “H” from his first name and the Latin word “benecia”, which means blessed.
Kim’s website started recruiting fan club members last May 2. However, last May 7, it was found out that the site was hacked with the bank account number being changed and the membership fee for Korean fans being increased from 10,000 won (P398) to 35,000 won (P1,392).
The hackers also posted that for 100,000 (P3,980), they could attend a supposed fan club meeting with Kim in Jeju Island. And for an additional 800,000 (P31,825), a fan could have a dinner date with the actor-singer.
These proved to be a hoax and KeyEast suspended the membership application. The matter has been turned over to the police to investigate and trace the identity and whereabouts of the hackers.
Korean media reported that about 20 fans were duped by the hackers and KeyEast will reimburse them.
With the website now running smoothly, KeyEast announced that reopening of the membership application.
“2011 Henecia, the official Kim Hyun-Joong fan club, is now recruiting members who are interested in supporting Kim Hyun-joong and his efforts during this period of intense activity, coinciding with the launch of his first solo album,” KeyEast announced on the website.
It added, “Anyone can subscribe as a member of the official fan club <Henecia>, regardless of whether he or she is in Korea or overseas, as long as he or she is eligible to register on the official website (hyun-joong.com).”
According to KeyEast, membership application will be open until May 15 for Korean and international fans.
It said as a member of Henecia, a fan gets privileges consisting of a membership card, use of the official fan club exclusive site and read exclusive contents, opportunity to participate in fan club events like fan meetings and birthday parties, priority to attend Kim’s open broadcast sessions in Korea and priority when purchasing concert tickets for Kim’s concerts in Korea and overseas.
Last year, Kim starred in the drama series “Playful Kiss”. Besides being an actor and singer, Kim is also a popular commercial endorser.
He is currently nominated in the popularity award category in the 47th Paeksang Art Awards in Korea.

SS501's Heo Young Saeng (25), goes 'solo'
On May 12th the first solo mini album song 'Let it Go' was released. SS501's main vocalist Heo Young Saeng, even when he was still on his team, he already shown his unique high vocal ability and now on his way of being a solo singer. Now that he start his solo activities, he still have some other plans in mind.
SS501 debut in 2005 and this is your first solo album after 6 years, do you feel a lot of pressure?
I'm looking forward to it, but I also feel the pressure. During the group activities, other members can fill the lack in me. They also do it during MV or TV appearance recording. I also feel empty now that I'm doing it alone. But it is also a good thing that the 100% focus is now on me.
During SS501 days, do you have a dream of being solo?
Of course, but the group is on a tight schedule. The company got plans to release solo album but it didn't happen
What do you want to be perceived in this solo activities?
If you mention the name Heo Young Saeng, the first thing that will come in to their mind is ballad. Most of SS501's songs are dance music. But since I am the main vocalist, most people perceived me as a ballad singer. I seek advice from my friends; I asked "what should I sing" they will reply me with "do ballad". "How about dancing?" "you'll do better in singing" he said. I think that those people doesn't understand me well. I also like dance music. Ballad songs will make me feel bored while dancing can be enjoyed with the audience.
'Let it Go' is not a typical dance song.
Sweetune who composed KARA's hit songs produced this medium-tempo dance track. HyunA of 4minute made a featuring for this song. It's about a girl who desire for love but the guy is like "you can leave if you want to." 'Cool city guy' is the concept for it. hahaha
Among SS501 members, you were the 3rd to have solo promotion. Park Jung Min and Kim Hyung Jun already started their activities. What do you feel about it?
I'm happy that I'm doing solo songs but it feels a little lonely. But we always say to each other that we need to work harder. Even if I feel lonely, I'm expecting to establish my own image.
Would SS501 will unite again?
We were planning to release a digital single but since we were in different agency now and currently doing our solo activities, we can't find time to discuss it. The members said, "Let's establish our solo careers for now and then we will regroup again." We don't have concrete plans for now but it is for sure that all members wants to be together again.
Kim Hyun Joong, Park Jung Min and Kim Hyung Jun are now in different agencies, while Heo Young Saeng and Kim Kyu Jong are in the same company. But compared to other members, they doesn't look like lonely.
Well, we feel less lonely compared to other members. It's a good thing that Kyu Jong and I have some colleagues here in our new agency that also work with us comfortably from the previous company. The current CEO and Lee Hyori noona also came from DSP Entertainment, so we feel good about it
Beside singing, do you have any interest in other fields like acting?
A lot. I've been thinking of acting for along time. But since I debuted as a singer, my singing career will be my priority. If an opportunity will be given, I would like to challenge my acting skills in drama.

Representing Korea, idol group SS501 have all gone to do their solo activities. Kim Hyun Joong has participated in acting, Park Jung Min and Kim Hyung Jun have released their own solo albums. Heo Young Saeng and Kim Kyu Jong both have signed on together with a new company, and even held their fanmeeting together. Recently Heo Young Saeng also released his own solo album.
“Almost 1 year, because I trusted my current company, thus I choose to change my previous company. During SS501 activities period, we have worked together before. Now that I am in the same company as Lee Hyori noona, but due to her busy schedule, thus we only met each other twice. In any case I feel that it’s a pity. Although group activities together would be the best, but still would like to have some solo activities. Currently I am quite upset separating from the members, but we still keep in contact.”
During when Heo Young Saeng was having SS501 activities period, due to his outstanding vocals which is recognised by everyone making him stand out. Young Saeng also naturally said that his image postion thus being recognised as that. But this album however showcase his outstanding vocals and his musical talents. Title song “LET IT GO” is a very unique lively dance melody, which features HyunA member of 4Minute who participated in the recording.
“During last Nov entering into the new company, start preparing for the new album. Only start album production in this Feb. If the response for this album is good, we will only start the plan for overseas activities/promotions. Of course, must sing. This time, “LET IT GO” comeback stage will showcase me and my 6 dancers. I am very grateful to HyunA for helping me featuring in my song, but it seems that the fans are jealous.”
12 May during the releasing of the album, other than the main title song, the album also consist of the song “OUT THE CLUB” which was produced by Tae Hwan who also produced RAIN’s album, retro beat but full of modern feel “I’M BROKEN” and also “RAINY HEART” featuring Kyu Jong for the rap part.
During the process of the album preparations, Heo Young Saeng fratured his right hand while practicing for his dance, no choice but to delay the release of his album. Even though he has not fully recover, he still insist to go on with the promotions. Not only music activities, he also participated in all the recordings of the variety shows vigorously. We can see that Young Saeng is totally immersed in the album promotions with his energy and passion.
As a member of SS501, Heo Young Saeng stated: “Now that everyone of us will give each other encouragement. Currently it is hard for us to re-group together, but we will discuss this matter next year. Now the aim is to concentrate in promoting my own solo album. The only word which I can introduce my album is “Change of image”, put aside the image that I have SS501, everyone will know after they have seen it.”
Has always been giving a smile, Heo Young Saeng thus starts his solo actvities this year. Idol group SS501 members solo activities, have always gave been giving different images and charms to the fans, Heo Young Saeng too!
